Confession time…..
reality TV is just one of my many guilty pleasures
and yes, I watch Keeping up with the Kardashians.
I actually REALLY loved the family home Kris
and Bruce lived in during the first few seasons -
it was comfortable and 'real' -
{in comparison to many uber-fancy ones that dominate the reality TV genre}.
If I were to pick a favorite of the current homes the family
lives in - I would choose the home of Kardashian sister Kourtney
{and her boyfriend Scott and their two children}.
The home was recently featured in InStyle magazine.

While I consider this home to be 'fancy' and very well
designed, there are lots of nods to the small children
that live here. It is obviously a comfortable family home.

The home is full of neutrals, textures, graphic patterns
and lots of black. It's traditional and contemporary
all at the same time.

I love that Kourtney chose to incorporate pieces from her
parents' homes from her childhood - meaningful pieces
make a house a home!

I tend to be drawn to these shows too, mostly for the scenery. It's fun to watch how other people live, even if it isn't as "real" as our lives are :) Right now I am hooked on Downton, and love the home, but it's the cottage that Mr.Bates & Anna live in that I would really love to see more of.
ReplyDeleteSo I have not watched Downton Abbey {GASP!} even though all my friends are telling me I would love it. I just have not had TIME, which is scarce with a busy life.

I too love the Kardashians and love checking out the houses and sets! I think that may be the reason I watch some of my favorite shows!

Kardashians are my guilty pleasure! When I admitted it on my facebook page not one.single.person. admitted that they watch too and yet I know millions of others do!

Really glad to see you make this post. Another Design Blogger did a post on it and almost unilaterally panned the house, the design, the colors....as well as the Kardashians. While they may not be some people's cup of tea, they are, after all, people. Who have feelings. And I feel that the other post was very disrespectful of the designer. If Kourtney loves her house then the designer did an EXCELLENT job, as far as I'm concerned. Of course, I'm not a designer so I'm sure I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to design....but I just don't feel like this house deserved the snarky remarks or snide comments that were made by the other designer. And yes...I watch them nearly every week!!!!

There are many shows I watch just for the interiors. I love the Kardashians and think Kourtney's house is gorgeous. I personally prefer the old house that Kris and Bruce had over the new one. Thank you for the beautiful pictures. I enjoy reading your blog!

ReplyDeleteKourtney's house is my favorite as well. My absolute favorite movie sets of all time are the ones from Something's Gotta Give, It's Complicated, Father of the Bride, The Break-Up, and LIfe As We Know It. I find myself watching these movies over and over again, just to look at every detail of the sets.
