sunburns and smiles!

Aloha friends….it feels like I've been away forever!  I've missed writing and 

sharing but nothing provides inspiration like a vacation.  Seriously!  

Park a creative type like me on a beach for a week and I can

get all kinds of crazy ideas.  Couple the extra rest and mind-space with

the impending spring cleaning season and all I can say is 

that my house just doesn't know

what kind of crazy is coming it's way! 

I am ready to tackle unfinished projects, edit, purge and style in

my own home…..and watch out clients, this crazy is coming for you too!

I will be away from here for the next two weeks.  I am going
to enjoy the company of my family in one of our favorite
locations…..I am unplugging, so if you send an email or

Have you heard?

Emily Henderson, the designer who, if I were living in 

fantasy land, I would hire in a second to come design

every.single.space in my home.  And while she was

doing her thang, I would love on that sweet new

baby of hers - cause I have a thing for bald babies

{I had two of them myself!}.

In reality, my favorite designer will likely never

come design my home……priorities like school tuition,

college tuition looming, future wedding expenses, soccer

fees etc….stand in the way of THAT dream. 

However, I was SO excited to learn this morning that

Emily will have a line of home goods at Target!!!

It's almost as good as having her come to 

my Forever*Cottage…..I can't wait to see her 

boho, groovy, quirky, preppy style translated into

all sorts of poofs, frames, vases, lighting, bedding etc…..

Catching up…….

 I don't know where last week went but I apologize for my absence around

here…..life, it's a busy one and while I love blogging and coming here

to meet all of you, it's the place that often takes a backseat to other

more important things.  It's that season of life for our family - the good stuff,

lacrosse tryouts, busy careers, math finals, soccer practices, 

traveling spouses, grandparents visiting…..

you get it, cause it's all going on in your homes too.

Thought I would share some photos from around our home….it's spring

so I have fluffed here and there.  I have also been doing lots of shopping

for clients and it becomes sort of  a "two for you, one for me" event -

definitely a danger of the job!

I finally jumped on the sign bandwagon and ordered this one

from the House of Belonging on Etsy!  It's a quote that I wanted

my girls to be able to see often as it sure makes sense!

Plus, it dresses up my hallway nicely, if I may say

so myself!

So what's new with all of you?  Are you feeling spring is in the

air?  I have crocus blooming in my yard but the PNW lived up

to it's soggy reputation this weekend and we got to enjoy it by

huddling under our umbrellas on the sidelines of a few soccer

fields! I still call that the 'good stuff'.

I apologize for my absence…..I won't bore you with the details

cause they would only include laundry, 6th grade math, design work,

lacrosse try-outs, an extra kid at my house this week etc……

blah, blah, blah…..

While perusing Pinterest this evening and indulging in a MUCH

needed glass of wine I came across a home that stopped me in my 

tracks and drove home a point that I wish I could better 

communicate to friends and clients……

BE FEARLESS IN YOUR HOME!

THIS home is bold, fearless, crazy and some might say "risky".

I say it's GREAT!  Good gracious, look at all that 

brass in the kitchen!

I only *wish*  I could be so bold, but seeing this

encourages me to do more of what my gut tells

me.  That voice that says, "everyone will think that's 

crazy" and "that doesn't match" will be silenced!
