I am traveling this week to Dallas/Ft. Worth with my daughter
for a soccer tournament. While most of my time will be spent
on the sidelines of a soccer field, I always like to take the opportunity
to find some great home interior shops or local art galleries to check out.
Any recommendations local peeps?
We are staying in Ft. Worth so it's likely I won't get much
opportunity to get to Dallas.
And on a side note…..what's with your weather Texas?
Do I really have to plan for snow/cold/rain?
I don't have any Fort Worth Suggestions for you I'm in Dallas but yes we have an inch ice today and it's in the 20's. We have a cold week ahead but not as cold as the rest of the world.
ReplyDeleteIt's 60 and SUNNY in Portland today - hard to think of going to Dallas and it being colder!

Ft. Worth has a great antique mall that is over 60,000 s/ft. I cannot remember the name but I am sure if you Google it you can find it. Also, Sundance Square is where we always stay and it is block after block of awesome restaurants and shopping.

Oh darn, I'm on the Dallas side too. I hope you find some good shops. We never know what the weather will be like here...last week was fabulous!

Maven and Wrare are a couple of shops in Ft. Worth that I have on my list of places to visit. I've heard good things. Restaurant recommendations are Tillmans, Brewed (coffee shop) and Melt (ice cream shop). All in the West 7th/Downtown area. http://www.fortworth.com is a good reference.
ReplyDeleteWill check them out! Thanks Dawn!

Sorry you're coming to Fort Worth when the weather is so cold! But I do have some great restaurants to share in addition to Dawn's - 13th Pie (best pizza!), Mi Cocula and La Familia (TexMex) and there is always In-N-Out Burger in case you don't have any by you. Not sure if you are looking for a nice place, but love Ellerbee's (farm to table). And for our favorite authentic Italian...Nonna Tata's...it's the tiniest place you've ever seen, but the best food and BYOB. Just need to make sure you're there at either 5:15 or 7:00 for best seating. There aren't that many great shopping places. The only one I would recommend is Simple Things and it's a little off the beaten path, but a great place! Have fun! Rose
ReplyDeleteIn Haltom City, TX (out past Ft. Worth a little) is a wonderful place called Lone Star Antiques. You will LOVE it!! We recently moved to Nashville but are in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area monthly. I make it a point to go there! IF you make it to Dallas, try the White Elephant Antique Mall or Lula B's -- both are on Industrial Blvd. All 3 of these places are fabulous and you just can't miss with them!
ReplyDeleteHi jill, bring a coat. Very cold. I live near amarillo but have a brother in Southlake and a sister in alvord. The Southlake mall is fabulous. Grapevine main street is very cool. For funky...deep ellum. Fort Worth cow town is a fun change of pace. I just love the entire area. It wouldn't surprise me if your event is canceled. Have fun
ReplyDeleteI'm not even sure you will be able to get a flight into DFW this week. Everything is iced over. Check your weather report! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteFt. Worth is home to 3 of the greatest art museums of the South, the Kimball Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum, and the Amon Carter Museum. This is the real thing. Exceptional art. They are in walking distance from each other and Montgomery Street Antique Mall is down the street about two blocks. Favorite place to eat is Blue Mesa, southwest cuisine on University Avenue.
ReplyDeleteHope it was fun! I'd take a little
ReplyDeleteTexas right about now.....
